Archelao Farmhouse, beautifully sited in the Oristanese countryside, offers the possibility of trips to the town, beaches and mountains.
The historic market town of Oristano is only ten minutes drive; in Oristano, the ancient capital of the Judicature of Arborea, you can visit some historical buildings and churches:
Torre di San Cristoforo
The imposing Torre di San Cristoforo(1290) is located in piazza Roma; this square, together with corso Umberto and Piazza Eleonora, is one of the most lively place of the city life.
Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta
The Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta overlooks via Duomo which every year, from the middle of the 13th century, is the scene of the Sa Sartiglia , famous horse-tournament led by Su Componidori. Shortly after sa Sartiglia, in another street (via Mazzini), the races of Is Pariglias begin: groups of two or three knights, riding on horseback, perform spectacular acrobatics.
Among many other churches, we suggest a visit to the Church of
Santa Chiara, built around 1343.
It is worthwhile a visit to the “Antiquarium Arborense”,
which contains a large collection of Tharros archeological findings
and more besides
Santa Giusta
Two kilometres from Oristano, towards Cagliari, in the territory of Santa Giusta village, don’t miss the Basilica di Santa Giusta, a jewel of Romanesque architecture in Sardinia.
